040.2 Demo
This build was showcased on deviantart back in December 2011. There are many differences in comparision to the final game, with most of them only being accessible by getting past the barrier imposed by the demo.
General differences.
- The Status bar is using the Comic Sans font for the hud display.
- No smoke is coming from behind Kazooa when shoulder bashing.
- No debris appears when rocks or chests are destroyed.
- Defeated enemies(except the World 4 enemy) have red hands instead of white.
- The cursor graphic is at its actual size in this build. In the final game it's been shrunk a bit.
Title Screen
The TV has a gray screen instead of a picture of some scene. The copyrights at the bottom are also missing, and the title tune is a bit different. That's pretty much it.
Introduction screens
General stuff
- The stack of Books, TV remote, and garlic objects are missing.
- The text box looks slightly different.
- Kazooa's speech sfx doesn't play when her dialogue is shown.
Screen 1
- The animation for Kazooa picking up the TV remote hasn't been implemented yet.
- The background on the TV scrolls faster compared to the final.
- The reporter's blinking animation is missing.
- The TV screen uses early placeholder art after it switches to a different program.
- The "Mysterious Fatso" tune is also missing.
Screen 2
- The background on the TV scrolls faster.
- After saying her line, Kazooa goes back to her usual animation, but stops on the first frame.
Screen 3
- Again, the background on the TV scrolls faster.
- The grassfield behind Uncle John is missing.
- Uncle John's theme is slightly different in, and doesn't play at a slower tempo.
- The quotes around the "Kazooie's Bad Strange Day" line was removed in the final game to make it fit in the text box.
- The lightbulb appearing over Kazooa's head when she thinks of an idea is missing.
- Due to a bug in the code, one of her frames won't show up. This bug stayed in the game until Version 1.6.
- The part where Kazooa makes a racket in her back room is absent, so the game simply goes to the next screen.
Screen 4
- The green effect appearing over the Clocko-Bat is missing.
Screen 5
- Teleport sfx is absent.
Screen 6
- No hole appears in the skies on the TV screen, and Kazooa doesn't appear falling either.
- The clouds scrolls much faster here compared to the final game.

- The sfx when the title graphics finishes their animation is missing.
- The episode titles are rendered in Comic Sans.

- The normal Woodstock enemy is missing.

- Cloudstock enemy is missing.
- World 2 is called "Heaven of Cloudstocks" instead of "Cloudstocks Heaven!"

- Wario nose enemy is missing.
- World 4 is named "Boogered enough?!!" instead of "The Booger Kingdom!"

- Snowball-throwing enemy and snowball is missing.

Main Menu
- This screen is missing many menu elements, including the cursor. It's all barebones at this point in development.
- Kazooa's head animate slightly faster, and the snore bubble gag featured in the final game is absent here.
Episode Select Screen.
- Like the Main Menu screen, this one's missing the neccessary menu elements.
- The buttons on the Clocko-Bat rapidly flickers between frames.
- The scrolling speed of the TV screen graphics scroll faster. They also appear more blurry due to the graphics having the "smooth edges" option checked.
Ending screens
Screen 3
- Kazooa teleporting out of the TV is missing.
Screen 4
- Kazooa immediately falls down, but keeps falling instead of landing on the sofa.
- Like the intro screens, the stack of Books, Garlic, and remote objects are missing.
- The treasure on the TV doesn't sparkle.
Screen 5
- The stack of Books, Garlic, and remote objects are missing, again.
- Uncle John is already standing among the treasure on the TV screen, using the same sprite as in the intro.
- The treasure on the TV doesn't sparkle.
Screen 6
- The stack of Books, Garlic, and remote objects are missing, yet again.
- Uncle John is already standing among the treasure on the TV screen, using the same sprite as in the intro.

- Features only scrolling clouds and water. The layers scroll in the opposite direction compared to the final game.
- The water is a lighter shade of blue compared to the final game.
Minigame 2 title
- Unfinished. Has only the fiery background from world 7 which is static here, along with a object rapidly flicking through minigame option gfxs.
Minigame 2
- Features only a half-finished background of a city road. This is earlier compared to the version that remains in the final game.
Minigame 3 title
- Unfinished. Has only a dark blue background, along with a object rapidly flicking through minigame option gfxs.
Minigame 3
- This one is nothing like the "Beach Surfer" minigame in the final. While this minigame remains in a later Room ID in the final, the original ID this minigame resided at was reused for "Beach Surfer".
- The minigame is earlier in design compared to the one still left unused in the final game.

- Unfinished. Has only the fiery background from world 7 which is static here, along with a object rapidly flicking through minigame option gfxs.

The number of base images however are far greater in this demo compared to the final, offering more insight into how the game's graphics were put together, and may even include unused graphics not found in the final version.
