Demo 0.7

Demo 0.7 is a extremely early development build of the game, and is 1313 days older than the final build of the game. The levels of the first 5 worlds have basically been laid out by this point, but worlds 6 and 7 are still empty. Is the first build to feature enemies in at least world 1. It is also the first build where worlds have their own unique graphics for the walls.

(This page is a work-in-progress. The stuff related to this prototype page will eventually be added at some point.)

Graphical changes

0.3 0.7

Status bar changed from flashing scroll to what is seen in this build and onwards. At this point it is 739 pixels in width instead of 700, and is colored like the dialogue box seen in cutscenes.

0.3 0.7

Dialogue box changed from scroll to what is seen in this build and onwards.

0.1 0.7

Changed from starting line pattern sprite to a normal Woodster enemy walking right.

0.1 0.7

Changed from invisible sound test/unused minigame 2 wall graphic to defeated Woodster enemy flying diagonally left and up.

The following enemy sprites were added to this build:

Interestingly, the sprites for a defeated Woodster enemy are red instead of white. This detail originated from a cancelled game project of mine, and it wasn't changed until demo 041.2.

0.1 0.7

Changed from invisible sound test/unused minigame 2 wall graphic to enemy controller sprite.

0.1 0.7

Changed from invisible sound test/unused minigame 2 wall graphic to enemy controller sprite.

0.1 0.7

Super hard mode ending Crower base image changed to Kazooa from the endingdemo00 screen.

0.6 0.7

Background changed to the one from this build and onwards.

Level differences

World 1

No changes, except for the enemies having been added.

No changes, except for the enemies having been added.

No changes, except for the enemies having been added.

No changes except that the coin has now been removed. This change was made after the enemies were added. No bosses existed by the time this build was made, so due to there not being any enemies in this room means the game will just go from one room to the next until reaching the first ending screen. This also applies to later levels.

World 2

No changes, apart from the wall graphic having been changed.

No changes, apart from the wall graphic having been changed.

Has an actual layout now. Still early compared to the final version.

World 3

No changes in layout, but the walls are now monitor screens and the background has been changed.

Almost identical to final version, save for a teeny change at the bottom of the room, and missing coins and treasure chests.

Almost the same as the final version except for missing coins and stuff. The bottom part of the level doesn't even exist yet.

Has an actual layout. Still very early though, showing there was probably a different pattern and strategy in mind for the boss by the time this layout was made.

World 4

Almost similar in layout. The world theme is also shown to be more centered on toys rather than the booger theme from the final version. Uses the starry background from Crower VS The Time as a placeholder.

Almost similar in layout. Bottom part of level doesn't exist yet.

Entirely different layout. The level was later remade from the ground up because I found it too short.

Entirely different layout. The concept for the King Wario-Nose boss, and the Wario-Nose enemies in general, hadn't even been thought of by this point.

World 5

Wall graphic has been changed, showing the objects for the hollow wall still uses the same graphic from world 1.

Wall graphic changed, showing even more evidence of the hollow walls not having their graphic updated. It ended up staying this way until Demo 073.0.

Layout is almost final, save for missing coins, enemies, and so on.

Room is much bigger than it needs to be. It was made smaller in the final version, with the room dimensions being left unchanged.

World 6

Levels 1 to 4 remain empty, removing the coin. No comparisons can be made. Level 4 uses the flames from World 7 due to a mistake when assigning the world-specific wall sprites.

World 7

Levels 1 to 4 remain empty, with the coin removed. No comparisons can be made. Level 4 uses the wall graphic from World 1 due to the visual wall object not having any check for changing the sprite for this room.

Misc screen differences

Looks the same as in demo 0.4, except Crower is gone and "PRACTICE" was changed to "PASSWORD". Also located below the screen is a very basic layout for a section where the player would be entering the password. The idea was picking "PASSWORD" would make the screen scroll down to the Password screen. This idea was axed by Demo 0.8 because I couldn't figure out a way to make it work, and it was moved to a separate screen instead.

Basically the same as the final version, except the dialogue border has a nifty detail to it which were removed due to part of the text not being visible when printed there.

No changes apart from the dialogue border.

No changes apart from the dialogue border.

No changes apart from the dialogue border.

No changes apart from the dialogue border.

Largely the same, except basic water waves now scroll in the background, and Kazooa is now there.
