Demo 8.3

Demo 8.3 is a early development build of the game, and is 203 days older than the final build of the game.

(This page is a work-in-progress. The stuff related to this prototype page will eventually be added at some point.)

Graphical changes

053.0

World 3

Level 2

8.1 8.3 Final V1

Layout is similar to the final game.

Level 3

8.1 8.3 Final V1

The hammer enemies and crate have been added. Like the first level of this world in demo 8.1, one of the hammer enemies are placed in the open. The intent was to let the player approach them from any direction. This is fine when running towards them on your own, but when TNT crates are involved a bug is exposed which makes the enemy just keep trying to hit the crate depending on the crate's placement.

It only became a problem in later builds when the enemy was made solid to prevent the player from walking through it as well as stopping the crate once it collides with the enemy. As a workaround, I strategically placed the enemies in places where it can be approached from only the direction the player currently can traverse in, which is up, down, left, or right.

World 4

8.2 8.3 Final V1

Two Woodsters have been added here. Still not crowded enough.

071.0 8.3-onwards

A Woodster walking in various directions was added. This was the last bit of work being done on the minigame before it got scrapped. Is looking the same as the final game.

070.1 8.3 Final V1

The placeholder Woodsters have been replaced with Uncle-John, along with doing some further work on the HUD. The gameplay is very different compared to the final game; rather than swat Uncle-John from a hole, the player has to hit him while he moves around the screen. I found out very early on that the idea just didn't work out in the gameplay sense of things, so I ended up changing it to the whack-a-mole style of game featured in the final game. This should probaly serve as a reminder to others that experimentation and trial and error should be encouraged, because you never know if the idea you have on mind actually works unless you try it out.

070.1 8.3 Final V1

Text rewritten yet again, updating the year from 2008-2012 to 2008-2013, and this time mentioning that the Woodster and Uncle-John characters belong to OkidokiCharlie(referred as W-64 here because that was the person's username on deviantart then).
