Prerelease Stuff

This page lists all the screenshots ever published from times when the game was still being worked on, and even some small developer diary snippets from my old wordpress site.

Demo 2.0 screenshots

All these screenshots from this demo were posted on deviantart back in 2011. Based on the date seen in the debug info on most of them, these screenshots were taken hours before the final build of the demo was made. Needless to say though, the contents of these screenshots pretty much matches up with the 2.0 demo, and it was probably the build the screenshots was taken from.

Demo 3.2 screenshots

These screenshots was also posted on deviantart. The date seen on the first three screenshots places them 6 days away from the last build, which could possibly indicate a slightly earlier version of Demo 3.2.

Demo 040.2 screenshots

Also posted on deviantart, all the screenshots except the first appears to be taken after the last build was made, so there's no real differences to see here compared to the demo that's already available.

Demo 050.0 screenshots

The first screenshot is nothing like the final build of demo 050.0. In fact, it shares more in common with an earlier demo, version 042.0, that I've yet to publish on this website. Both screenshots were taken a week prior to the last build of demo.

Demo 061.0

The below screenshot of the 061.0 demo is the only one.

Demo 070.0

A screenshot of the new "placeholder" title screen. Probably based it on a title screen from an as-yet unreleased prototype build of Earthworm Jim 3D for the N64. I ended up scrapping this one anyway because the old one was always meant to be in the game.

Strangely enough, this is the only screenshot to feature the version number "A_070.0", the "A" probably meaning "alpha version". None of the 070.0 builds I still have feature this version number, so it was probably cut early on to avoid confusion.

Demo 073.0

The below screenshot was probably taken by me by mistake, and was never published while the game was still under development. It was taken nearly two weeks before the final build of demo 073.0 was made.

Demo 8.0 screenshots

These screenshots was taken after the final build of the demo was made, and as such feature no other differences compared to the demo already available. This is also the first demo version to revert back to the old demo version numbering scheme used in much older builds.

Demo 8.4

A screenshot I took for reference on how the text should be spaced in the minigame info window. Indeed, the text is spaced pretty differently in this screenshot compared to the last build of Demo 8.4.

Demo 9.9

Screenshots of the game from its last days of development. With the final game's date being september 16 2013, the september 8 2013 date of the screenshots places them at around the time of the 9.9 demo.

A noticable difference compared to the final game is in screenshots 5 and 6 the grassfield behind Uncle-John is missing.

Development diary

While working on the game I kept writing on a small development diary of sorts on the game's main page on my old Wordpress site that talks a bit about its progress. The links found in the original page no longer works, so they've been replaced with archive.org links instead. Any grammar or spelling errors seen here are also present in the original text.

2012/03/05 10.49: Putting some pressure on myself towards on fixing all the cutscene timings at the moment. Will probably be a bit difficult, as i’m working within virtualbox these days.

2012/03/05 22.05: Finished designing the coffee table book screens. No screens right now. Too tired..

2012/03/07 19.41: 2 Screens of the coffee table book right below. Sorry for the wait:

2012/03/23 19.38: Working on the AI for the remaining enemy Wood-Stocks. More info on this later.

2012/04/09 23:07: Been rather sparse with updates recently, but i have received the ”flu” right now. Don’t know when i’ll be feeling better, maybe in a few days i suppose. No, having the flu is nowhere any nice. My nose constantly drips, which obviously prevents me from trying to draw on paper. Don’t like this at all… anyway, moving on. I’ve got some of the enemies partially working in terms of AI, and some minor changes in content has been made. I’ll try working more on the game project, despite being sick, and having my nose dripping all the time.

2012/05/03 12:40: Demo 052.1 up. Sorry for the delay. Currently working on getting demo 061.0 done, which will include further changes.

2013/01/27 14:43: Demo 8.0 now available for download. Apologise for the long wait gap, I needed more time to fix up things in the game. There’s alot of changes in this demo release, so check it out, I’m sure you will notice some advancements in it’s progress as of late.

2013/02/08 15:43: Currently workin’ on the 8.1 build. So far I got the rest of the enemies done, but they’re still a bit incomplete. Will start making the blooper cutscenes by now which I intended to do several months ago, but couldn’t because of the enemies. More to come later.

2013/02/15 21:39: The majority of the Blooper cutscenes are now in the game. Still a bit incomplete on the graphics part, but their coding is all done. Also working on adding in the rest of the Coffee Table Book features.(Minigames, Cinema, and the Bloopers. As well as minor changes here and there) After I get the Coffe Book all completed, there’s only one thing left; all the damn bug testing.

2013/03/04 14:24: Work on the Minigames have begun. I assume it’ll take about 2 or 3 weeks to get most of them implemented.

2013/09/18 18.35: V1.2 released. This minor revision fixes a few bugs left/introduced in V1.1.
