Demo 040.2

This build was showcased on deviantart back in December 2011, and is 632 days older than the final build of the game. There are many differences in comparision to the final game, with most of them only being accessible by getting past the barrier imposed by the demo.

(This page is a work-in-progress. The stuff related to this prototype page will eventually be added at some point. It is also in need of a heavy rewrite due to pages for other prototypes now having been made.)

General differences.

Title Screen

The TV has a gray screen instead of a picture of some scene. The copyrights at the bottom are also missing, and the title tune is a bit different. That's pretty much it.

Misc screen differences

This build is the first to get rid of the door seen in the opening and ending cutscenes, and things starting to resemble the final game more closely.

Title logo is now like the final version. "PASSWORD" option has been removed, and the sound controller object has been made invisible. Still no picture on the TV, and no copyright at the bottom.

040.2 Final V1

What appears to be the start of making the screen the player first sees when choosing "START" on the title screen. It has the internal name of "room349_option.", whereas in the final it is named "room349_choice.", and the actual options screen is found in the "room369_option" room.

3.2 040.2 Final V1

Knob-less door finally removed. The TV background has been changed from blue noise to a vertical white zig-zag pattern. The Dumb-Crow newsreader's hands were changed to their final size, and the panel cycling through pictures of Wario has been added.

Backup 2

While the screen looks overall the same as the final build of Demo 040.2, the door frame tiles hadn't yet been redrawn to remove the door. Only this screen will be documented because the other cutscene screens look identical to earlier builds.

Base Images

The frames used for making the "CLOCKOBAT", "CLEAR", and "TIME UP" sprites.

Unused Images

The frames used for making the final title logo graphic, which also includes the unused base graphic found in Demo 3.2 and the placeholder logo used in that build, only with the "IN" changed to purple. The change made to the last image indicates it was probably still in use at some point after being recolored.

The images used on the TV in the intro screens, without the white border.

The border that was used for the above images.

Variant of the zig-zag background that are two pixels wider.

Sound Differences

All level tracks except World 1 are now the same as the final version, so they won't be covered in this section.

040.2 Final V1

The beginning part at the end has been removed.

--Game Information--

This is the first build where the info text is written primarily in english, and being much more minimalistic as well by just listing the controls and advising the user to read the help manual for more information about the game. The year 2010 has also been removed.
