Demo 1.1
Demo 1.1 is a very early development build of the game, and is 1096 days older than the final build of the game. This is the first build to add a character for Kazooa to fly with in the flying stage of World 2, and work on implementing the dialogues for at least the story cutscenes have started.
(This page is a work-in-progress. The stuff related to this prototype page will eventually be added at some point.)
--Alternate Game Over screens--
According to internal room names present in backup 1 and the final build of demo 1.1 there was going to be separate game over screens for each world:
room307_gameover
room320_gameoverworld7_hardmode
room321_gameoverworld1_superhardmode
room322_gameoverworld2_superhardmode
room323_gameoverworld3_superhardmode
room324_gameoverworld4_superhardmode
room325_gameoverworld5_superhardmode
room326_gameoverworld6_superhardmode
room327_gameoverworld7_superhardmode
Unfortunately most of the room names have been changed, so it's clear that the rooms inbetween were already being repurposed for the episode title cards and coffee table book. This is also the first mention of the unused end scene for World 7.
Interestingly, the above strings also mentions hard and super hard modes. There would have been hard and even harder versions of the game's stages(probably also including the bosses). This was axed early on because the game gets progressively more difficult towards the end, and due to the original game lacking any way of saving progress having harder versions of levels would have made it take even longer to finish the game in one sitting.

This graphic was added starting with this prototype in an attempt to reduce risk of epilepsy. Whether it would have helped much is up for debate, but I suppose by the time the original monitor got changed it might have helped a little bit.

Misc screen differences
While not many screen differences exist in this build, what has been changed are notable enough. The episode title card screens have now been implemented, albeit in a rough state. They all lack the objects found in the final version like enemies and episode titles, and never saw further updates until later during the middle of the game's development.

Cursor changed from a white glove to Kazooa's hand. "START" and "PASSWORD" now use customized letter graphics, and are placed vertically instead of horizontally. The info bubble now uses its final bouncy graphic and are placed on the right side next to the TV.

TV now has a background of static noise. The newsreader Dumb-Crow is in, though his hands are smaller. The panel that cycles through pictures of Wario are missing.

The very first appearance of the first enemy testing room. Shown in the image are some images on top of the walls. They are normally hidden behind the walls so they appear behind the monitor graphics, and were made visible for the screenshot. This room seems to be based on a room from World 3, so that is why the background from that world appears, along with these monitor images. The final version removes the monitor images, probably to help a bit with performance, and because they didn't need to be there.
Debug Menu
SOUND TEST
| 1.1 | Final V1 |
|---|---|
Now features all the options that is found in the final game, except there are still differences like debug names not having any "BGM_" or "SFX_" prefixes, the "="s coming after the option instead of being next to the left of the value, and DISCARD_SNDS being spelled as DISCARD_SOUNDS, the latter which basically makes the "=" appear merged with the value.
Base Images
Contains the parts of the Dumb-Crow newsreading character from the story and blooper cutscenes, including the separate parts that were used to assemble them into complete graphics. While it has been cropped to remove excess white space, it is otherwise identical to a image file found in the Game Maker assets archive.
Sound Differences

Was going to be used for when Kazooa's dialogue text is printed out during cutscenes. It was replaced in the final version with the Uncle John Reveal tune.

A sound effect which was added among the others in this build. It was replaced with the tv noise sfx that is heard in the main menu.
Text Differences
The dialogues system was just being worked on by this build, and as such the text has a multitude of differences compared to the final version.

The 'Kazooie's Bad Stupid Day'! text was split into a third line due to it not being able to fit in one line. This was changed in the final by shifting it back to the second line, while also removing the "'"s surrounding the text.

Naah! what is this?! Amateur hour? If only... |
There were 17 spaces after "only...", which reflecting on it now, was a rather crude attempt at simulating the slower printing of the text seen in Wario: Master of Disguise. The spaces were removed by the final game.

The final game removes "BWAAHAHAHAHAAA!!" at the end of the line. This was used in earlier builds of the game before Kazooa's laughing animation was implemented. Like the previous line above, there are 7 spaces after "myself!". Regarding this change, I can't fully remember if it was yet another attempt at adding some sort of delay. It could very well be the case though.

This pair of ellipses were removed, and the previous line stays visible in the final game upon going to the next screen.
--Game Information--The game title was updated to add the year 2011 as a possible time for the game's release/completion. Indeed, I kept changing the year/date for when the final version of the game would be released since so many things still needed to be done. A stark reminder that I was being far too ambitious with my ideas than my experience, resources, and time would allow...
