Misc screen differences

This build marks a point where, besides the implementation of Uncle-John in the opening cutscenes, the minigames was starting to be worked on a bit more. The main difference with all those screens is the choices actually tells the player to press the Space key when the cursor is on top of any of them. Considering that some words appears to be merged with each other and I simply couldn't be arsed to redo the graphics, and the additional wording was probably unnecessary, it was simplified to just "Play", "Rules", and "Quit" for the final version.

1.1 2.1 Final V1

The scene with Uncle-John outside of his outhouse has been implemented. The clouds don't scroll yet.

1.1 2.1 Final V1

Uncle-John has been implemented. No grassy hill is placed behind him though. His back hair is missing, and his glasses have no shine on them.

0.8 2.1 Final V1

Remains the same except for the different-looking clouds, and the sky now appears dark blue due to the background having been made transparent.

2.1 Final V1

Consists of scrolling clouds at this point.

1.1 2.1 Final V1

1.2 2.1 Final V1

No changes.

2.1 2.1 Final V1

First appearance of the object debug test room. As described on the unused rooms page for the game, this room was used for placing objects with the object placement feature to test their appearance and behavior. This particular room wasn't used very much during development though.

1.3 2.1 Final V1

Completely black except for Kazooa and the TV, which have both been shifted up. The background layers are still in the scene, but have been made invisible, probably in preparation for the redesign that would happen starting with demo 2.2.

By turning on the background layers it is shown that both the backgrounds for the clouds and water waves have been changed from opaque to transparent, effectively showing just a black background behind them.

Sound Differences

The level tracks have changed since the Demo 2.0 build, but are still far from being finalized. There were some experimentation being done when it came to picking the kind of instruments that mostly suited the game. The tracks for World 1 and 4 feature an electric piano instrument, which would also be used for the world 2 and 3 tracks, and the title screen music by the time the level tracks were finalized.

Staff Roll

2.1 Final V1

.

2.1 Final V1

Channel 3 uses Lead 1 (square). Plays at a tempo of 144.

world2

2.1 Final V1

world3

2.1 Final V1

Very rough with the choice of instruments, with both Channel 2 and 3 using Lead 1 (square).

world4

2.1 Final V1

In a rare case of where earlier prototypes got this track mostly right, the instrumentation of the track in this build is quite off, with Channel 1 using Clav and channel 3 using Lead 1 (square).

world5

2.1 Final V1

Channels 1 and 2 use Lead 1 (square) instead of Acoustic Guitar(Steel).

world6

2.1 Final V1

Channel 1 uses Clav while channel 2 uses Electric Piano 2.

world7

2.1 Final V1

Channel 1 uses Clav, with channel 2 being Lead 1 (square). Plays at a tempo of 175 while the final version plays at 179.

Final Boss

2.1 Final V1

While the track stayed the same from this build on, the tempo of the "low on time" track was changed from 12 to 11 because the former value would've induced much more stress than necessary.
