The Wario Show - More Trivia

It has been almost twenty years since the "The Wario Show" series was first thought of, and with me having since moved to write on other things I think it is now time for me to go through my older stories and materials concerning this series, to try and paint a clearer picture over how it all came to be, as well as reminisce and think back on some of the ideas and such featured in the stories.

While the section on the main page gives a little bit of a overview about the series, I felt it wasn't enough since there's still things to be told, and I've been holding to all this for so many years now where it's gone to the point that I simply can't keep it back anymore, so... do enjoy the read. Even if you don't, at least there's some neat stuff in here like character arts, trivia on ideas that weren't used, and such further down the page.

Oh, and one last thing; under NO circumstances was I ever thinking about Waluigi when I wrote this series! Not even the name of the character entered my mind! It was basically Wario along with the three other Wario-like characters of Wario-Ware-Man, Warrio, and VARIO. Waluigi doesn't even appear in any of the stories nor is he mentioned at any point, period! Just thought I'd make it clear in case people would wonder.

(There's a possibility this page might be updated and even revised with more info and materials later on, so none of what is listed here will be truly definite.)

The beginnings of The Wario Show

The Wario Show started back in July 22 2009, 21 days after the sixth story of The Awful Shitchurch series had been put aside. I was just standing in the shower, and out of nowhere I began rambling up a piece for a certain TV-Show starring Wario along with 3 other copies(the latter eventually becoming Wario-Ware-Man, Warrio, and VARIO) of him, going through various sheningans and mischiefs. While the details of that particular piece has been lost to time, it made me start writing on what would become the very first story in the series. Although the modified date on the earliest wip document says July 22 2009 13:15, I still have a feeling the idea for the series came about one or two hours earlier.

--Series 1--

While the details of the first series in The Wario Show are a bit foggy due to the thing just evolving over time, what is known about it mainly comes from my own memories, and the stories that have already been written.

--The Super Smash Bros. Brawl fight that only happened once...--

The first story in the series was different in that it had Wario-Ware-Man, Warrio, and VARIO fighting each other at the beginning of the story. As the story moved forward however, this concept was largely forgotten about. Do note that it is only in the rewritten version of the story where at least Warrio and VARIO are actually fighting each other in Super Smash Bros. Brawl style, the original version just makes a passing reference to it in general. This trait wouldn't be carried over to the stories that would follow later(Virtual-Wario being one exception, but that was mostly due to the reuse of the beginning part from the first story). It is also in this story where the characters of Wario-Ware-Man, Warrio, and VARIO were being quite different in personality, but at least Wario-Ware-Man's personality was already being sort of put together as the story moved on, if only by little.

Prior to say, story two or three in the first series, Warrio and VARIO's outfits hadn't yet been decided on, with only Wario-Ware-Man's outfit being that of Wario in his biker outfit from WarioWare. Also before story 3, the settings of the series were still mostly that of Shadow-Moses-Island, even if things had changed a bit since story 1. The settings in story 3 was still partly based on Shadow-Moses-Island, but things had begun to gradually evolve, like the existence of roads, houses, forests, and so on. Even so, the settings of the series hadn't yet been set in stone, but at least there were no longer any constant snowing, and the skies were no longer almost pitch black. It was only by the time of story four that nature would start to evolve in the area, even if bits of metal could still be found in the ground.

In october 25 2009 I also came to start work on an Game Maker project that would basically be an animated version of The Wario Show. Even though I had written a list of variables that would be used for handling everything, and even preparing some objects for the show's titular characters, only the title sequence was done which is basically the title logo slowly zooming in on the screen over a scrolling background, only stopping when the music finishes playing.

--The introduction of the farting and outhouse gags...--

Story four, "Den Stora Vitlöksdagen!!", was the result of an earlier idea for a story of mine that didn't really get any further besides the beginning. In this early version of the story, Wario-Ware-Man and Warrio takes notice of things like treasure chests and so on moving out of the area they live in. After realizing that a "Food Vaccuum" invasion is about to happen any hour, they set out to evacuate their home area for a unknown time. VARIO was mysteriously absent from this version of the story. It didn't get very far though, and I came to later rewrite it into what it is today; Wario trying his best to ruin VARIO's garlic by letting out gasses in his outhouse.

In the original story the topic of night sandwiches comes up. First up is VARIO, whose dessert was a chimpanzee pie. This was basically a indirect reference to Diddy Kong from Super Smash Bros. Brawl. What I had on mind with it wasn't really something very disgusting, but more of a regular looking pie, with one or two Diddy Kong tails sticking out of it. It was changed in the rewritten version to instead mention VARIO eating a money bounty pie which may also sound a bit disgusting, but in a less horrible and more funny but ridiculous way. Even so, VARIO has never been seen eating on another Diddy Kong pie ever again in any stories after the original version of story 4(Warrio makes a passing reference to VARIO having at one point eaten such a pie in the middle segment of Story 10 from Series 2. The pie on Wario's side is only seen standing there though while he eats on his garlic hamburger, further indicating there was no scenes ever being planned where either Wario or VARIO were visibly consuming the pie in the first place).

The part where I think I crossed the line is about Wario's night snacks, one of them being a Christmas ham he's been storing in his outhouse for 15 years, and is made almost entirely of garlic, with one of the fillings being chimpanzees known as Diddy Kong. Again, it is hard for me to remember what exactly I had on mind with this joke, but since it was all just text I think it could be interpreted in many different ways, and I think what one of my friends possibly pictured in his mind was in the more gory way, which wasn't really my intent at all. Needless to say, I cut this part out from the rewritten version of the story just to be on the safe side, but also because I thought it just didn't fly with me these days.

Looking back on the original version of the finished story, it probably wasn't as funny like I first thought, since I came to learn in later years that the humor wasn't even much liked to begin with, even back when the story was first shown. At least that's my impression of the incident these days. Anyway, it was this story which introduced the whole thing about Wario sitting in his outhouse farting and spreading his gasses. It didn't happen in every single story though. I may be wrong, but I guess that's what made my friend dislike this series so much even though things gradually improved later on, especially towards the series' end.

Story number 5 takes Wario-Ware-Man and his siblings to a golfing course in the forest, which starts to go terribly wrong once VARIO finds a strange-looking golf club in a part of the forest where clubs and golf balls have been lost and forgotten. This story was probably where the environment started to look even less like Shadow-Moses-Island and the world becoming more of its own thing. The only thing that was(possibly) bad with it was, of course, a farting joke or two, and the writing probably wasn't always being very clear. But anyhow, this was about as much as I could do with the format at the time, and picking the "script" format for this series was maybe not the best choice of mine.

Story no 6 sees Wario-Ware-Man spending most of his time in the cellar in their house. After the second story their house no longer looked like a giant metal pillar, but more of a real house. There was one change being made to this story while it was still being worked on, which is that instead of Wario-Ware-Man going down to the cellar, he was supposed to go to his room and study all the junk he's found. I probably changed this to make things seem a bit more interesting, but also because of the thought over HOW Wario-Ware-Man would possibly fit all of this stuff into his room.

Regarding the mention of "his room", I don't think I had really thought over how Wario-Ware-Man and his siblings would sleep at night, whether they would be in the same room or in separate bedrooms. It was only in story 9 where they would be first seen sharing a double bed. This is yet another instance of the settings and situations of the series not really having been set in stone until much later.

Another thing that was changed for at least the .doc files post-V1 is the renaming of the story from Tystnad Tack!! to "Tystnad Tack, Analysering Pågår!!". I probably renamed the story to reference the fact that Wario-Ware-Man needed some quiet down in the cellar while studying all the junk, but one of his brothers tend to come in and disturb him when he's in deep focus. Looking back, I thought the title still didn't make any sense, so for the rewritten version the story was retitled "Wario-Ware-Man och sakerna i källaren."

--The evolving of the environment, and doing away with the 232 lines limit...--

Story #7 marks several changes and things. Apart from the lifting of the 232 lines limit, it also marks a change in the environment of the fictional world Wario-Ware-Man and his siblings live in. No longer are there any visible traces of metal buildings or metal in the ground. Nature like trees, flowers, bushes, and the like have appeared pretty much everywhere, and roads, cities, and countrysides have also appeared. Dumb-Crows and Woodsters have also begun living around the place. In fact, this story marked the end of the environment and settings of the series being a mere, slightly disjointed rip-off of the Shadow-Moses-Island stage from Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and now becoming its own kind of world.

One thing that still hadn't been set in stone by this point, was VARIO's scaredy-cat personality. Although hints of it appeared in the "Totally Flies" story, it didn't really come into play until the Drawcia's Hämnd/Drawcia's Revenge story. Even then, his fear for things and being easily scared was still not a recurring trait of his.

Besides that, one thing that really stands out is the scene where Wario-Ware-Man and his siblings accuse Wario for cheating on the snail-racing competition, which in the original version was longer and more drawn out, and arguably more serious than it needed to be. This scene was cut down heavily for the story's reappearance in the second series(which was mostly made to fill in a gap), now cutting straight to the part where the real traitor(The Monitor) is discovered, with Wario being the one to find him instead of Wario-Ware-Man, Warrio, and VARIO. The rewritten version of the story is based on the version from series 2 because I found it to be a lot better.

Story #8 sees Wario-Ware-Man traveling to Wario-Man's Wario-Bike driving school to renew his drivers license. VARIO meanwhile is having a problem at home; VARIO needs to do number 1, but Warrio has occupied the toilet so VARIO is forced to go to every single household to ask for permission to use either of their toilets. With no other option VARIO is forced to try and pee behind a parking meter, and from there on an all around chase between him and the Woodster police.

I can't say very much about how this particular story came together other than that it was sort of half-inspired by an episode from Season 1 of Oggy and The Cockroaches, mostly when it came to the chasing sequence. Even so, the chasing sequences between that episode and this story are very different from each other. Another thing I can mention is that the story makes a reference to the date of "28 Juni 2010", which not only refers to the date the story was finished, but also is the very day the story takes place in.

This is also one of many instances where I attempted to give the Woodster characters more intelligence than was usually portrayed, since in this story they are talking quite a lot, and they don't even let out a single "duuh" throughout the story.

Story #9 tells the story of Wario-Ware-Man having a very weird dream one night after VARIO tells his siblings about his dream. Wario-Ware-Man's dream starts off with a small rodent stealing the former's bowl of garlic on a sunny day, which leads to Wario-Ware-Man falling down a deep hole. From here on a number of weird scenes play out. Some of the scenarios in Wario-Ware-Man's dream shares similarities with VARIO's dream, but some differences are apparent like encountering Banjo and Kazooie playing poker against evil witch Gruntilda Winkybunion, and The Great Mighty Poo rising out of a small poo lake having a small talk with Wario-Ware-Man, Wario-Ware-Man ordering some garlic pizza which tastes awful, falling into the trap of a big Woodster who locks himself up in his own cage, ending with Wario-Ware-Man having to endure some awful singing by a bunch of Sweet Corns.

As for how this story came to be... I can't remember very much. I guess I just typed whatever things came to mind. Whether the moments made much sense or not didn't matter since nearly the entire story takes place within a dream. After all, the structure of scenes in a dream very often doesn't make sense because it is mostly the brain piecing together all that's happened throughout the day into a continuous dream.

Story #10 has Wario-Ware-Man and his siblings go out on a treasure hunt in some caves. The supposedly hidden treasure actually turns out to not exist, being the invention of a certain computer screen fellow(The Monitor). This is also the first story where the character Warigo, Wario-Ware-Man and siblings' cousin, appears.

Like story 9 I can't remember how the idea for this story came to be. One thing I do now find very odd with this story is a specific line where Warigo talks about a sign outside Wario-Ware-Man and siblings' house which basically tells about how they don't like a "certain hitler stupid, with the name Adolf. If you see him, SHOOT HIM!! Thank you for your understanding. With kind regards, the Wario brothers!". Not only do I find this line to be not so appropriate for the series, but also quite out of character with the main characters of the show. While the intent with this specific line was mainly for the sake of humor, I now feel this could be interpreted in the wrong way. If I do choose to rewrite this story in the future(which I more than likely would), I will probably remove this part or at least replace it with something more funny.

Story #11 has Wario-Ware-Man invent a weather manipulating machine in response to an ad on TV for a certain movie about raining meatballs. Rather than meatballs, it is instead garlic that rains down after the machine is started. Wario-Ware-Man forgets to turn it off though, resulting in the island becoming flooded with garlic, so it is up to Wario-Ware-Man and his siblings to find the machine again and turn it off, which is going to be easier said than done.

Again, there's not a lot that I can remember about this story except for a few things. One of the things that stands out with this story is that this is one of the few stories where Wario himself doesn't even fart a single time, either on his own or in his outhouse. This is also one of the very few instances where Wario is shown to be much nicer towards either Wario-Ware-Man or his siblings, a trait which would follow a few more times during series 2. This is also the very first story where Wario-Ware-Man is known to also be an inventor of sorts, since he apparently constructed a weather manipulating machine in just a single day, all by himself. This trait of his came to appear in a few more stories during the TWS series. It is also where the small Wario-Nose critters appears for the very first time.

--Series 2--

This series marked the beginning of the TV-Show adventuring series of stories which came to be... rather shortlived. Due to this series having spent more years in writing, there is a bit more info to be told, even including a single piece of character concept artwork! Writing on the first story for this series started in December 6 2010 16:26, nearly a month after Series 1 wrapped up. Even by this point I was having some early ideas in mind for series 2 that was soon forgotten about as development on this series picked up.

--The renaming of Shadow-Moses-Island to Wario Island--

Story #1 sees Wario telling the readers a little story about how the settings of The Wario Show came to be. While mostly fictional in terms of the series' actual origin, it was more or less an attempt by me to give Wario-Ware-Man and his siblings a bit of a backstory in regards to where they once lived and how they came to appear on Shadow-Moses-Island in the first place.

This story was the first to rename Shadow-Moses-Island to Wario Island, and dropping the "Smash Bros. World" moniker which had been used since the very start of TWS. It also marked the introduction of a gag involving the character Snake from the Metal Gear series(mostly concerning his appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.), which involved him sitting inside a metal box watching TV. While the gag was mostly minor here, story 3 was the first(and only one) to go all-out on this joke, for better or worse...

Story #3 has Wario-Ware-Man and siblings moving out of their house for a while after an incident involving Wario. At first Wario enjoys being for himself, but soon misses the company of Wario-Ware-Man, Warrio, and VARIO, and sets out with Warrio's parrot to track down their current location. Wario-Ware-Man and siblings meanwhile has got a new problem to deal with, and a far worse one compared to Wario.

This story is the first where Wario-Ware-Man and his siblings feels they've finally had enough of Wario's gasses and decide to move out. It's only temporary though, and by story 4 they're back in their old house again. This is also the first(and only) story where the gag from story 1 concerning Snake is greatly expanded upon, and the resulting jokes turned out to be... at times strange and maybe even crossing the line. The commentator was intended to have a very strange and funny voice, and would often begin his commentary with a "Duuh" descending down quite a bit in pitch. The first part where Snake is watching football/soccer on his TV is fairly alright, apart from some of the swearing of course. The second part where Snake is watching horse racing on TV I think was pretty ok too... apart from some of the swears, as always.

The one thing I'm now possibly objecting to is the mention of Snake watching a channel named "The Gayboy Channel", which is basically a channel intended for... well, by the name just mentioned, I guess you know what I mean by that.

Looking back on all these jokes, I probably threw these things together just to fill some space in the story. While some of it is passable, the other bits certainly doesn't fly with me these days. When I do decide to rewrite this story, I think I'll remove the parts that isn't so funny, and keeping the good parts while rewriting them to tone things down. As said before, this story was the only one to expand on the whole Snake gag thing like this, and it would again be reduced to a minor joke for the stories that would follow later.

--The TV-adventuring period--

Story #4 is what started the whole idea of Wario-Ware-Man and siblings teleporting into TV-Shows to loot for treasure. In this story they teleport into a TV show about a mater thief. Once getting their hands on Cannoli's wand they then raid the show for treasure, and their main object of desire to find; The Wishstone. Wario meanwhile is also transported into the show by mistake, and a very long but uneasy alliance forms between them, both to find Wario's Diddy Kong chimpanzees and Cannoli's magic wand.

Looking back on this story, this probably has the most swears of any of the stories. They don't occur in every single sentence though, but they do appear somewhat frequently throughout the story. Like the first series, due to the writing format used there are parts that may seem unclear to the reader. There are also a few things with the story I now question myself about which I feel like changing someday. That'll be then though.

It is also the story which took me the longest time to write, and it was the sole reason why I no longer felt like carrying on with the TV-Avdenturing series of stories after "The Powerpuff Fatsos". I did have something much bigger planned for it, but things happened both with the writing, real life stuff, and online responsibilities that made it impossible for me to continue on with the idea.

It was also the first story to introduce the middle segments, which is basically a small side-story with no relation to the main story. This idea was never used again for stories written after Series 2, although I've been thinking of exploring this concept again from time to time, the latest series being The W-W-M.W.V Team's Adventures where I once considered the idea of end segments, but I ultimately decided not to once work on the other stories began.

In story #5 Warrio and VARIO travel into the TV show of Brandy and Mr Whiskers, with Warrio being responsible for Brandy not meeting with Mr Whiskers due to a toilet-related incident which causes Warrio and VARIO's airplane to crash. From there on yet another strange and weird adventure awaits them.

As for how the story itself came about, I certainly did watch Brandy & Mr Whiskers back in maybe 2005 or 2006-ish. The story itself was simply intended to be a sort of "what-if" case, like what if Brandy and Mr. Whiskers didn't even meet. Looking back, there are now a number of scenes I now question myself over, like Brandy developing a sort of liking towards VARIO. This is where I believe the whole joke about Warrio wrongly suspecting VARIO for planning to do something with any of the girls he meets on their TV-adventuring trips also began.

There was also a scene at the end of the story which was removed from the story before it were uploaded on this site, where the sky shows a star constellation of Brandy giving a little wink to the viewers. I probably removed it because I thought it was weird, and due to some concerns over how others would be viewing it. If I do a rewrite of this story, I would probably reintroduce this detail again, if only altering it a little.

Story #6 meanwhile has Wario-Ware-Man and siblings going into the Totally Spies TV show. As is usual when it came to this series, things are quite different compared to the source material, and Wario-Ware-Man, Warrio, and VARIO are already at a tiny size on arrival. While they have been given the job as spies, very little do they realize that the actual stars of the show might be finding them much sooner than expected. Meanwhile The Monitor makes a return, and up to no good as always.

There isn't very much I can say about this story apart from the fact it was a loose parody of the Totally Spies series. Fatso W was also a parody(and replacement) of the gray-haired man who are apparently the one who briefs the spies on the mission they're undertaking.

Story #8 sees Wario-Ware-Man and Warrio going into The Powerpuff Girls series to save VARIO who has accidentally teleported himself into the show. While brewing on a potion to make a bigger garlic VARIO accidentally transform himself into VARIO-Man who is very much an incompetent and worse alter-ego of VARIO, barely able to even cause any form of long-term trouble in Townsville.

Looking back on this story, I like this one a bit better compared to story 5 and 6. It was even rewritten for Wario bros & Maya the Bee Series 3 as "Powerpuff Fatsos; Revisited", whose plot was a bit revised and expanded upon to actually include some bad weasels in it.

The only thing I felt bad about writing out was at the end of the story where one particular bit of text were replaced with a more appropriate line. The original text mentioned that Blossom was about to start making love with a shrunk Wario-Ware-Man. Before the story was posted on the site, the line was rewritten to instead mention her playing with Wario-Ware-Man as if he were a doll. Looking at this change now, I feel like I made the right move. The original line also won't be returning for the rewritten version of the story because my writing has changed over the years.

--The return to the series' original roots--

During the course of Series 2 I increasingly felt the whole TV-adventure idea wasn't really working out(I was also running out of new ideas for it), and I just wanted to make TWS return to where it were before this entire thing started, with varying degrees of questionable success.

Story #7 sees Wario-Ware-Man and siblings going to the Wario-Bike Industries company to test-drive a new Wario-Bike that's being worked on. However, VARIO has lagged behind severely and tries his best to catch up to his siblings while the latter are testing the new Wario-Bike. According to Wario-Man, they have to keep driving the bike until they arrive back at the company, though there are several instances where they break this rule during the course of the story, knowing that Wario-Man really can't see whether they're at full speed or not. The Monitor also returns at the very end, and is up to his usual no-good stuff.

I can't say too much about this story apart from the fact it was my attempt to bring the format of TWS series back to where it was before the whole TV-Adventuring stuff happened. Additionally, the title of the story was going to be "Tjockisar i trafik!", which survived all the way into the finalized story. It was changed to "Den nya Wario-Biken!" in later revisions because I later though the former name didn't make much sense. It was also the first story to make visual jokes about the methods of food delivery at fast-food chains.

Story #9 has Wario-Ware-Man and siblings compete against Wario in a Snail competition. What neither of them know though is The Monitor is back and up to his usual mischief. The Monitor tries all sorts of methods to sabotage the competition, but his plans almost always ends up on the short circuit.

The title of the story was originally going to be "Warionäsefighten!". It was changed to "Warionäsetävlingen!" due to the fact that the Wario noses aren't really fighting or anything, but competing in various challenges. This is also reflected in one of Warrio's lines at the start of the story, which was corrected for the finalized story.

It is also the first story where Wario sends The Monitor flying by punching him instead of using his Wario-Waft. I definitely remember making this change because I had been made aware of posts on the Wario forums where users strongly disliked the idea of Wario having some sort of fart move if the character were to be included in future installments of the New Super Mario Bros. series. While it was only a suggestion made during some sort of interview or such with Shigeru Miyamoto, the idea, from what I can recall, didn't really hit home with the majority of users.

Since my The Wario Show series of stories utilized some sort of farting humor from time to time, I began feeling a bit concerned that some (or most) people would feel turned off by it. It was only in Series 3 that I decided to forego this kind of humor completely when it came to Wario.

In Story 4 Wario-Ware-Man also makes a mention of this early idea, only featuring little yellow chicks instead of Wario-Noses, and they would be fighting each other with gherkins. This idea was eventually forgotten about, although Warrio does make a small mention of it in Story 9, with Wario saying that he no longer found the original idea much fun. I suppose Wario's line reflected my own thoughts by then about the idea of yellow chicks fighting with gherkins. Looking back, I now think this idea could be turned into something funny one day.

For story #10, Wario-Ware-Man and siblings goes to the shopping mall to buy some groceries. However, their shopping trip takes a lot longer than expected when Wario-Ware-Man gets himself lost in the large freezer room, which results in him having to call his siblings for help. Easier said than done though, because no personnel in the store knows where the freezer room is, indicating there has been no real lecturing in place over which places are where in the store.

There isn't very much I can say about how this story came to be. I was probably just having this sort of idea in mind and wanted to write it all down into a story. Even though this story is a bit newer compared to the Series 1 stories, there are details which I may have forgotten about by now, and this story is one of those examples where any details regarding its development are simply lost.

Story #11 sees life of Wario-Ware-Man & siblings and Wario being disrupted by a certain pirate woman, Captain Syrup, in the biggest way possible. It all starts when Syrup feels like having her revenge on Wario for all the times he's bested her in the past, and after arriving on Wario Island with a jetpac on her back Syrup finds The Monitor running around with a strange little bottle in his hand. Learning that drinking it can make the consumer grow to a very big size, Syrup sees her opportunity to try and teach her greedy arch-nemesis a lesson.

The general idea for the story was written down in the character bios as early as november 19 2011, and it took me until february 22 2015 to finally start writing on the thing. The only thing I managed to write out by then was the very start of the story, only for it to start pick up again by march 3 2015. It was put aside again until around late june of that year.

I think what happened was that I decided to start writing on the three last stories (10 to 12) at once, in an attempt to get Series 2 done quicker. It somewhat backfired on me though because I found myself writing on one story or the other, and as a result these stories found themselves being pushed aside every now and then so I could just focus writing on the other.

One thing I do remember changing was a particular scene at lines 452-462 where Captain Syrup was having VARIO trapped under her pants. This bit didn't make it into the finalized story, and it was changed at the last minute because I didn't find this scene appropriate.

Story #12 sees Wario Island being invaded and vandalized by a young paint-crazy teenage witch named Drawcia, and it is up to VARIO to restore the world to its former glory and also rescue the souls of his brothers and Wario. It is going to take some will and courage from VARIO's side to pull it off though, because VARIO is known to be easily afraid of things that looks scary or downright creepy.

This is another story where the main plot was written down early on in the character bios, only much more extensively. The idea of Drawcia from Kirby: Canvas Curse being the main villain of the story was decided on right from the beginning. Even so, her character wasn't really set in stone until the time came to write on the story itself. She was also known as just a paint-obsessed witch, while in the finalized story she is depicted as a stereotypical young teenage witch who is simply obsessed with covering everything in paint. This is also the only story where Drawcia is shown to be stealing the souls of living people for her own needs. This wouldn't be carried over to her appearances in later stories post-TWS where her character was toned down to just being a young teenage witch who simply wants to paint stuff, and maybe even make life miserable for Warrio and/or VARIO.

It is also the first story in which Wario sort of apologizes to Wario-Ware-Man for interrupting him when the former let's out the biggest and loudest fart in a outhouse. I can only see this bit as being my way of trying to put an end to the gag introduced in story 4 of the first series that had since plagued TWS every now and then.

The Special Episode story sees Wario-Ware-Man & siblings and Wario talking a little over the stories that has so far been in the "The Wario Show" series, with characters that appeared during Series 2 making appearances as well. There is certainly a bit of trivia to be revealed about how TWS truly came to be, and some memories of past events being shared.

I wrote this story mainly to talk about some previously unknown bits about the series itself, even if most of the stuff is rather fictionalized, and to also clarify events that happened in previous stories. Besides that, there isn't much more I can say about this story.

--Series 3--

This series pretty much marked the end of the TV-Adventuring idea, along with the farting and outhouse humor when it came to Wario. The characters that appeared in Series 2 are also no longer brought up again nor do they appear in any of the regular stories, and the idea of middle segments was also dropped. There isn't much to say about this series apart from the fact it introduced something that came to be a mainstay for later series of mine.

--The introduction of Maya the Bee and Wario no longer using his outhouse--

In story #1 Wario-Ware-Man and siblings take part in a motorcycle competition against a trio of Biker-Woodsters, and the latter are playing it very unfair, including beating them up. It looks like Wario-Ware-Man and siblings ain't gonna win the competition, but a certain young bee comes to their rescue in the end.

This story was the first to introduce Maya the Bee to the cast of main characters. The reason why I choose this character was because I felt the need for expanding the series a bit. Compared to later series post-TWS, Maya didn't wear her dress and shoes, and she was also twice the size smaller compared to Wario-Ware-Man & siblings and Wario.

Story #2 sees Wario making a hot day unbearably miserable for VARIO by putting sticks of dynamites in his juice glass. With the pipe system in their house being clogged up and the key to his fridge being in his piggy Wario-Nose, VARIO is forced to run outdoors to look for some way to get the key out of it.

This is the first story to NOT have Wario farting in his outhouse, but rather stuff things into the toilet seat in the outhouse and flush them down in order to block the water in the pipes of Wario-Ware-Man & siblings' house. The reason I made this change was to put an end to the whole "Wario sitting in his outhouse farting out gasses" gags thing. Although Wario is later seen using his outhouse at the end of the story, it was mainly because he needed to go and pee due to having consumed all of VARIO's refreshments in the fridge.

It was mentioned in the first story of Series 3 that Wario would return to keep spreading his gasses around town. It never happened in the end though because I had already decided to do away with these sort of gags completely. As such, after story 2 Wario has never been seen or mentioned using his outhouse again.

--Further changes, and the eventual discontinuation of TWS series--

Story #3 represented a slight shift in focus, in which Wario-Ware-Man & siblings and Maya go to a flower competition site somewhere on Wario Island. The competition ends up becoming very tense between them all since both sides want to plant the most flowers in order to win the big prize.

While I can't say too much about this story's development or writing process, I still saw it as my way of breaking away from what past stories had mostly been about. While not as apparent here, this story was the beginning of further changes to be planned.

Story #4 sees Wario plotting a very cunning scheme on VARIO by shrinking him and making Maya believe that VARIO is a doll. While his plan with it all is to make a clip montage to try and sell it for money, his plans ends up falling short when he discovers that his Diddy Kong chimpanzees has erased the entire VHS casette, and sees himself falling victim to the same treatment he did to VARIO; getting shrunk to the size of a doll.

This was another story where I was trying to do something different. What I had on mind with this story, was mainly to make some sort of size-related content. And no longer was Wario sitting in his outhouse all day, and instead tries all what he can to make himself some quick cash. As to why I choose to make Maya the subject of macrophilia content, it was mainly because I wanted to bring some of Maya's more childish and playful sides to life.

Story #5 sees Wario-Ware-Man & siblings going out camping in a forest. While things starts out fairly alright, it all takes a turn for the worse when their tent goes missing. Although they try to sleep out in the wild without a tent, they realize it's not a good idea and tries to make their way back home.

This story probably marked the eventual end of the "The Wario Show" series as a whole, and it was one of the last stories where I took my time writing on it. It was also one of the only stories where influences from the Oggy and The Cockroaches series was being inserted(or at least I attempted to). It didn't really work out very well mainly due to the format of writing I was still using at the time.

Story #6 sees Wario-Ware-Man & siblings getting another visit from their cousin Warigo. After Maya comes into their house to show them a article about a hidden treasure, they decide to head out to locate and find this treasure.

This story was the last of mine where I took my time writing on it, because for the two last stories I came to rush them out so I could get The Wario Show done and over with once and for all. Is also the second story in a row to not feature Wario in it.

When it comes to story #7, it basically sees Wario-Ware-Man & siblings and Wario playing a game of golf. The moment VARIO accidentally picks the wrong golf club is when all hell breaks loose, especially when this club is left to its own devices as VARIO tries to locate the other guys to get some help with stopping the golf club from wreaking havoc in the forest.

This story is basically a follow up to Story 5 from the first series, and is one of the few to not feature Maya the Bee in it. This is also one of two stories to be written in just two days, just a day before story 6 was finished. I was apparently looking forward to just be done and over with this series altogether and move on to something new and different.

Story #8 meanwhile sees Maya the Bee helping Wario-Ware-Man & siblings and Wario with baking a delicious cake, a task which is going to be easier said than done due to a number of circumstances...

This was in fact, the very last story in the "The Wario Show" series. The 3rd series was planned to have more than 10 stories, but after some thinking and realizing that TWS possibly couldn't carry on any longer, I decided to write on just 8 stories in the end.

The title of the story, "Baka med Maja"(Baking with Maya), is in fact a parody of a baking program on TV named "Baka med Manuela"(Baking with Manuela) which was broadcast on swedish TV8 a year prior to this story being written.

This is also the first story to feature the clones of Wario-Ware-Man, Warrio, and VARIO from the second part of Story 2 from the first series. Throughout story 8 they are basically seen wandering around the new world they are in, commenting about various things, including poking fun at the Dumb-Crows living on the island by now.

The special episode story, written over a year after the "The Wario Show" series ended, was made mainly to talk about how the third series had been, but also to try and close a few gaps I left behind me. It also sees Wario finally moving out of his house at the end of the story, further confirming the end of the series as a whole. Maya immediately decided to move into his house after Wario left.

Looking back on it all now, The Wario Show sounded like a good idea to me then. In practice though, it turned out to be very complicated and difficult to write on, especially during the second series of stories. There were probably even more ideas I had on mind that I've since forgotten about by now. I was also being far too ambitious with the series than my own creativity, as well as reality itself, would allow for. Back in 2009, I thought that this idea alone would maybe even spawn comics and an animated show(and probably even fictional ads with Wario-Ware-Man, Warrio, and VARIO doing some rather funny and hilarious things). None of it materialized in the end, and the series remained as text stories written in the style of "Character speech scripts".

Although it was difficult for me to write on the thing later on, I still had my fun with it, and it is The Wario Show I have to thank for that I came to keep writing on stories. If I hadn't come up with this idea of mine, who knows where I would've been today. Maybe I would've kept writing on The Awful Shitchurch series? Maybe I would have begun writing on something very different? or would I have not been doing any storywriting at all? Again, it is hard for me to be exactly sure where I would've gone had it not been for the "The Wario Show" series.

Back in 2020 I began work on a rewrite of the first 6 stories in the series, mainly to fix a number of things that has since felt wrong to me. Looking at the rewritten versions again from time to time, I think I might as well rewrite the rest of the stories, fixing things that I now feel are either unclear or just doesn't sit well with me these days.

It sure has been a trip back in time for me to try and reminisce over TWS, even if there are gaps here and there due to so many years having passed, and most of the ideas not really having been written down before hand. Anything else listed below are things extracted and/or taken from old files and(possibly) dA journals of mine.

--Scrapped ideas--

It may be unbelievable, but even The Wario Show had a few ideas being thrown around. While it is rather fragmented and spread out, some things were written down here and there in both journals and character bios documents. While most of my earliest journals from 2011 were unfortunately removed, I do have at least one .txt file from january 8 2011 which describes a little about the series. Looking at the text now, I now find that my english writing was quite messy here and there, and there are mentions of stuff that more or less were just thrown together.

There are at least two ideas that wasn't put into use, which is how Wario is able to take his outhouse wherever he wants, spreading his stench around the town. Another idea was comics which unfortunately didn't come about(or fortunately, depending on your viewpoint).

The former I probably intended to happen in the second series, but after I started writing on the stories that came to be I had already forgotten about that idea, so it never happened in the end. The latter didn't happen simply because I just couldn't draw Wario very well(and still can't even today). I also think by the time the fourth story in the second series was finished, I realized that the amount of work it would have involved, I just couldn't make the idea of comics happen.

The original text file where the above details were found can be viewed here: da1.txt

I also found further details regarding my overambitions with the series on this page here, including the mention of a possible animated series which never happened: TWarioShow EP1 'Swedish'

I have to admit that my writing then was a bit all over the place, and I was, like said earlier, being a bit too overambitious. Reality caught up with me later on though, and the series remained in the form of text stories.

The rest of the ideas listed below comes from txt files that are more or less intended to be character bios, and from work-in-progress versions of the stories.

---wario biography 1.txt---

In the character bio for VARIO, there's quite a few things that was omitted from later .txt files, like the mention of VARIO vomitting in the cleavage of a giant woman. An additional detail is how a "uncensored version" of this scene would be included in the "deleted stuff" section of a DVD release of The Wario Show. While the former bit did make it in, the latter did not. I always had it on mind that the scene would shift over to a shot of Wario-Ware-Man and Warrio just as VARIO is about to vomit, but due to the writing format(and oversights on my part) the scene could be mistakenly visualized as being uncensored.

Another detail is the mention of VARIO having rescued Brandy Harrington from a certain evil emperor(which would have loosely resembled Wario), while in the story that was written this does NOT occur at all. Either I thought that this detail was unnecessary, or I simply forgot about it. After all, writing on the story itself didn't occur until july 2012, while the info listed in this doc was written in late october 2011.

The bio for Drawcia the Teenage Witch is much more expansive, and talks more about the story that eventually would come to be than the character. It also reveals that the beginning of the story, and maybe even across the story itself, was going to be a lot more scary and creepy than it ended up being. While most of the details in her entry did make it into the story, the scaryness was toned down.

---wario biography 2.txt---

The bio for Drawcia the Teenage Witch describes drawcia as being a cute, but shy and stereotypical witch, while later docs revised it to mention her being a young teenage witch which is how she comes to be described in the story itself.

It also mentions topics such as her unwillingness to date anyone due to her shyness, and trying to come up with all possible excuses. If provoked into being dated, Drawcia would also transform the person into something like a ball, a superslow snail, and the like as her answer. Drawcia would also have an affection for female humanoid raccoons for some strange reason. Looking back, I probably dropped the former due to the fact the story had yet to be written, while the latter were dropped because I didn't like the idea later on.

---wario biography 3.txt---

The Bio for Brandy Harrington mentions a bit about her role along with VARIO in a future story. It was intentionally left rather vague. Thinking back, I probably still had it on mind that VARIO would have had to rescue her from some sort of emperor due to VARIO's older bio still being intact, with wario biography 4.txt being the first to remove all these mentions.

--Series 2--

Story #4

--wip13.txt--

Lines 1259-1261 were rearranged a little in later .txt files, possibly to avoid redundancy or because a different scene was going to follow at some point. The latter I'm a little unsure about, but it's possible it was actually going to be about the Woodsters playing croquet in the pyramid.

--wip14.txt--

Line 1278 mentions Wario not willing to walk any further because he's hungry, while in the finalized story Wario instead goes to the toilet.

Story #6

--wip2.txt--

The middle segment was supposed to begin at line 214. It was later shifted over to line 256, just as Wario-Ware-Man and his siblings are about to be stomped flat by the Totally Spies girls. Another difference with the middle segment(that had yet to be written by wip2.txt) is that the Wario bros playing croquet was going to be the first scene.

--Series 3--

Story #1

A rough draft for the beginning of the story was written back in July 17 2011 while the 2nd series was still being worked on. Most of the text are fairly similar to what got used in the finalized story, even if the writing format is a bit different to series 3.

Unknown story

This story was never written down, but the idea for it is still in my mind; this story would have involved VARIO ending up at hospital due to a accident that occured, causing his face to become disfigured. While the face surgeon(a Dumb-Crow) does his best to fix up VARIO's face, it only ends up becoming wrong due to Wario's interference with swapping out VARIO's photo with incorrect pictures, mostly for his own amusement in seeing VARIO's face looking weird or funny.

Again, while the idea for this story haven't been written down until now, it was intended to appear at some point during the second series. It never happened in the end, but I would like to one day revisit this idea for the Remade version of The Wario Show.

Character art and other pics

There sure were a few pics being made for this series, though only three of them can be classified as actual character art.

warioshow

The original full size version of the picture used on the main page. Looking at this again, I think I threw this one together in a sort of hurry. The placements and poses of the characters are mostly fine, it is just the ground and background that I now feel aren't very representative of The Wario Show in general. This pic was made after I finished the last story of Series 2.

warioshow

Just a pic of a notepad window showing how wide the window should be in relation to the spacing of the text. It was mostly applicable to this series because I was still writing the stories with notepad at the time. After The Wario Show I started writing my newer stories with OpenOffice, eliminating the need for keeping the text spaced within the bounds of the window.

warioshow

Art of Dumb-Crow, one of the filler characters of the series.

warioshow

Art of one of OkidokiCharlie's characters, Woodster, who is also acting as one of the filler characters for the series. I don't think I've posted this pic anywhere before, so its inclusion on this page is probably a first.

warioshow

Picture of Wario-Ware-Man, one of the main characters in the series.

warioshow

Picture of Warrio, one of the main characters in the series.

warioshow

Picture of VARIO, one of the main characters in the series.

warioshow

Picture of Wario, the supposed "main star" of the series.

warioshow

Art of Drawcia the young teenage witch. Compared to her Kirby series counterpart Drawcia's human form seen here was intended primarily for the "The Wario Show series". Looking at this art again, while the general design looks fine, I would probably make a few minor touches to her these days. This is also the only visual depiction of Drawcia being shy, which was never seen or mentioned in the finalized story.
